Uzbekistan's referees face danger from aggressive players. Slovenian referee Slavko Vinchich has been appointed as the main referee for the World Cup final. According to FIFA's press service, the final match of the tournament will take place on July 19 between Argentina and Spain national teams. The match will start at 00:00 local time on July 20.
Vinchich, 46, has been a FIFA referee since 2010. In 2024, he refereed the Champions League final, and in the current World Cup, he has worked three matches (Brazil - Morocco 1:1, Jordan - Algeria 1:2, Mexico - Ecuador 2:0). In the 1/16 final match between Mexico and Ecuador, Vinchich sent off Ecuadorian defender Pero Inkapieni for talking to his opponent with his hand in his mouth. This is prohibited under the new rules.
The Uzbek national football team lost their last match to the Democratic Republic of Congo 3-1 (2026-06-27). The team has lost their last 5 matches (0-0-5, most recent first).
