1 Billion Dollar Target

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU) announced at the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum in Tashkent on 24 August that it aims to attract $1 billion to the fintech sector by 2030.

Regulatory Sandbox and Innovation Hub

The CBU is creating a regulatory sandbox to test new solutions. It is also establishing an Innovation Hub; the first residents are expected to be accepted in the fourth quarter of 2026. The Hub will support fintech projects at stages from development and testing to market launch.

Venture Fund and International Partnerships

The CBU has created a dedicated venture fund and is negotiating with international management companies. One of the fund’s tasks is to help promising fintech projects attract larger capital and international co-investors.

Open APIs and New Payment Standards

The regulator is working on implementing open banking APIs and new payment standards. These will simplify interaction between financial systems and create conditions for developing cross-border financial services.

Artificial Intelligence and Digital Soum

The CBU is developing an alternative credit-scoring model using artificial intelligence. It is also studying possible applications of the digital soum.
